WEDNESDAY (8TH), "SIMMONS RELEASES STATEMENT ON CCS SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH, AND LACK OF TRANSPARENCY"
Columbus, OH - Student activist turned candidate for Columbus Board of Education Brandon Simmons released a statement today on the superintendent search and lack of transparency that has plagued the Board for years.
Simmons says “It's insulting. It's insulting that we have a Board so allergic to accountability, so allergic to transparency, and uninformed about what's happening in our schools. It's bad enough this Board walked our students into the first teacher strike in 50 years, but now the Board is allowing Dr.Dixon to remain on the payroll and can’t explain what her role is, can't explain what value she's providing to our families.”
Simmons adds ”We deserve a solution driven Board that takes ownership of the challenges our students face, that places trust, accountability, and transparency at the top of the to-do list. That's why I'm running for the Board of Education. It's time to turn the District around, and the board members that got us in this position won't get us out of it.”
